Americanization: Good or Bad?

Americanization in General

First of all, what is Americanization?

Definition: Assimilation into American culture; The adoption of American customs, traditions, music, movies and food (Spreading to other countries)

What do I think?

In my humble opinion, I view Americanization as a bad thing. Some beg to differ, but I find that assimilation has more consequences than benefits. I'm not arguing with the fact that America’s ideas aren't useful, But as American ideas become more and more common, there will be fewer unique places in the world. Who wants to spend tons of money travelling to a foreign country, only to find a McDonalds every other block? American civilization may be the “culture of desire”, but to lose your own traditions and culture for that extra Starbucks across the street? Is it really worth it? At what cost are countries willing to pay for Americanization?
Our countries have their own backgrounds, cultures, and traditions. Individualism is an important part of lifestyle. So why are countries just accepting American assimilation? Is America forcing countries to assimilate? Do some countries want a change? Is it to make their country a better place by taking Americas ideas and fabricating it into their own culture? Or is America shoving their ideals down other peoples throats?
